What to do to help hurt kitten?

Yesterday my husband and I found a little kitten that must have been attacked and had her eye poked out. The eye socket was all pussy and runny and the kitten didn’t even try to move when hubby pick her up. We couldn’t just leave her by the dumpster so we brought her inside, cleaned her up, and tried to get her to eat. She took a few laps of baby formula, but that was it. I didn’t think she’d make it threw the night, but she did. So I tried feeding her again with a dropper and she still wont’ eat. I forced her to eat a little and also gave her some warm sugar water. Our husky pup has pretty much taken her in and allows the kitten to cuddle her. The kitten tried nursing from her, but of coarse no go. She has pooped twice on her own and also peed, there was no blood in either. What could I do to get her to eat?! Anything I should be doing for her? We’re a young military family with a 9 month old son and two dogs so we really can’t afford to take a stray to the vet. And the pound here is a high kill. Any advice or info would help!

look up a local cat rescue group on the internet. Sometimes they have a list of vets who will help you out and give the kitten medical attention for less money.
    Thanks for trying to help.

I say to people – don’t ignore homeless cats – if everyone out there picked up one homeless cat in their lifetime and had it spayed or neutered – the homeless cat population would be in control.

Try to get the dry food and soke it in milk for a while so its soggy then try to get the kitten to eat some. Also buy a bottle for the kitten and try to give her some milk.

You should take her to the vet.

That eye will need some attention for sure. Even if it’s completely lost it’s eye, the vet needs to provide it with proper care. If you’re going to keep it instead of surrendering it to a rescue shelter (you might find one in a neighboring county?) you’ll eventually have to get it some care for it’s good as well as the good of your family.

Get some canned kitten food or at least canned cat food. . . . never feed a cat dog food, people food, or anything else. You can also buy dry kitten chow and moisten it with warm water and try that.

Good for you for rescuing it. . . sounds suspiciously like a person did the damage to it. It was probably abused and dumped.
