Which breeds of dogs get along best with cats?

We have an adult cat, and now my family wants a dog. (We want to get one as a puppy, and hopefully rescuing one at a shelter will be possible.) Which breeds of dogs are most compatible with cats? Would a standard poodle or a lab be ok? Because those are my favorite breeds.

Stay away from hounds, beagles, basset, greyhounds. . and terriers. I would get a smaller dog, maybe a poodle, maltese, shih tzu. .

One that is friendly cat is a personality type, not a breed type although some breeds (like sight hounds) are more prone to be ‘small animal’ driven then others. . . Your best bet is to rescue a puppy and make sure that you acclimate it to the cat-since you are getting a puppy just make sure to teach him proper manners towards the cat-do not let her harass her, etc.

pretty much any dog ??can get along with cats, it just depends on how you train them and how old they are when they go into ur house,
