Why is the water in my fish tank so cloudy?
Its a five gallon tank and ive put all the chimicals in it to get the chlorine out of it. And the amount it says to put in it on the directions. And its been running for three days. It was so clear the first day. I havent put any fish in it yet. What am i doing wrong?
I repeat. Ther are no fish in my tank. And im not getting any untill i get this water better prepared. I am new to this. I just need some help. Thanks.
Are you sure the directions don’t say to put that much in, as that could easily be a dose for 10 gallons, and you are doubling it, which would make the water cloudy. . .
They were farting . . . . from all the food you gave them. HA!HA!HA!Merry Christmas!
Putting too many chemicals in at the same time can be counter productive. I would reccomend emptying it and starting over. Let it sit for 24 hours before you add any chemicals so it can go through the nitrogen cycle and then, after testing it, add whatever is necessary.
If your setting up a new tank, add plants and one fish to start the tank cycle, in a couple of weeks, your water should be fine. If it remains cloudy, change 20% of the water and stop feeding your fish for three days.
Go to the pet store. There is alot you have to learn. Ask them how to PROPERLy set up a tank. Discuss what fish is going to be in there. Beta’s (fighting fish) are the easiest to care for.
Your tank is cloudy because it does not have the bacteria it needs. Get a bottle of CYCLE/ Its bacteria in a bottle. You cannot overdose your fish with it. It goes in your tank everytime you do a water change.
Cloudy water. . . . . get stuff called “P CLEAR” it causes the particals making your water look cloudy to clupm together so they are easily filtered out.
Please find out about water changes and cleaning your tank. You should never be compleatly cleaning it out. Only a 25% water change every 2 weeks.
PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH! FISH AE LIVING BEINGS TOO.
REMEMBER THAT YOU TOOK ON THE REPONSABILITY OF A LIFE IT IS YOUR JOB TO ENSURE THE BEST QUALITY LIFE YOU CAN
if chemical is the problem. Dont use it. Fill your tank with water and leave it without fish for few days(atleast three) so that the chlorine gas will escape.
This is the easiest way I follow
Take a look at the type of filtering system. It is more than likely a small bubble filter with an air pump or an air stone. Even though it was crystal clear during the set up process there might have been some sediment that was not cleaned from the gravel. It might have floated into the water now. There might have been a film develop on the glass from impurities in the water as well. Wipe the glass and see if that is the case. Also, if you overtreated with de-chlorinator, it might have some effect on it. Let it run for a day or two yet. If it does not clear up, I would suggest re-cleaning the tank since it is only 5 gallons. Good Luck-Merry Christmas
let it run remember the bigger the tank the easier it is to take care of
maybe u didnt wash the gravel before you put them on the tank. wash the gravel and get new chemicals. you might of overdosed. i reccomend novaqua, and amquel plus
This problem will happen when setting up for the first time, it will clear in time just leave the pump running with nothing in the tank, The only chemical,s i have used is for white spot. If you change the water before it clear,s this will make the prob last longer, just wait it will clear
