Can I use a flea collar on my cat after using other flea treatments?

I used Zodiac Flea & Tick shampoo and just used the Zodiac carpet and upholstery powder and the flea collar label says “do not use this prod simultaneously or within 30 days of treatments / exposure to cholinesterase inhibiting drugs, pesticides.. But that is very indirect and confusing?

Hi Stacy. . . many over the counter flea products (flea collars especially) are very harmful for cats including Zodiac. Hartz, Sargent’s, Zodiac, BioSpot all have class action suits against their products as their products causes seizures, chemical burns and sadly death. Here’s a website that details in great depth Hartz: http://www. hartz victims. org / index. php The safest flea control products are to use either Frontline, Advantage or Revolution. You can purchase these from a vet or online through 1-800-Pet Meds: http://www. 1800petmeds. com / cat. asp? LV = 10. For the home, the best and quickest way to kill fleas Boric acid is sold as a laundry detergent called borax. http://www. seedsofknowledge. com / fleas. html. Do not waste your $ on flea collars, they do not want to work, just keep the fleas off their neck.

I would say yes, we have just cause it keeps the fleas off the cat, its not a treatment or a bath.

No, you should not put a flea collar on your cat if you’ve used other flea products recently.

Do you love your cat or have a death wish for it? Think of a flea “treatment” as a really strong dose of poison. Never double-dose your pet, if you pet is not visibly hurt by your confusion (ie double dosing). you can be sure he’s suffering internally. What are you thinking! Always err on the side of caution when poison and pets (or children) are concerned.

Follow the label instructions. You can poison your cat by exposing him / her to too much anti-flea chemicals.
